WHAT'S GOOD FOR IRB GOOSE

Isn’t Necessarily Good for IRB Gander

Selective Code Enforcement
A resident on Legion Lane (behind City Hall) was spotted by our selectively sharp-eyed code enforcer and cited for adding a railing to her steps. She was ordered to apply for a variance and pay triple permit fees. At the variance hearing, the City Attorney opined that a variance was not needed because it was only a minor improvement, yet the commission went ahead and voted anyway. Why didn’t the planning staff, building inspector, City Manager, etc. know the code? Did the commission vote on this unnecessary variance to avoid refunding this resident’s money? How is it that code enforcement spots a railing but fails to notice that the Mayor rarely cuts his grass? Most importantly, why didn’t any commissioner go to bat for this applicant? Isn't anyone sitting on the commission working for us?

Selective Law Enforcement
Economy is down. Unemployment and crime are up, yet IRB has less police protection. And, one of our officers sits at nearly every commisison meeting just in case someone gets out of line.

The City Commission voted unanimously to allow the woman to keep her railing. I'd say that would be "going to bat for her", wouldn't you?

There was no police presence at the last Commission meeting and guess what? Ill-behaved citizens were disrespectful and disruptive.
This is exactly why Mayor DiNicola always insisted on having the police present at meetings - there are always a few who apparently have been brought up in a barn.

I bet you’re the same idiot that didn’t know that the City Treasurer fiduciary duty is to the people of Indian Rocks Beach according to the Charter. Also, Bob “Boomhower” DiNicola was also an idiot. A dirty, two-timing politician, who was on the take and involved in more back door deals than imaginable. He was gutless, knowing most of the time people wanted to kick his butt, which is why that backboneless weasel needed police protection all the time. This town is much better off without him around. By the way, did you know he didn’t even know how to read? What a joke!

Going to “bat for someone” doesn’t mean to first beat them with it and then pick them up and help them dust of their knees. Get real! This commission has milked us citizens enough – give this lady back her money – especially after you voted 5-0 to grant her the railing that she needed to get in and out of her home without hurting herself. God forbid any of you have a “special need” in this town.

Brought up in a barn? I doubt it. But if that is what you feel you have to say to seem like you are more educated than the people debating you, I guess that is how “you” folks roll.

Look at the record of the variance granted to Commissioner Valery a few years back.

That Commission went out of its way to help citizens improve their property by helping residents find "legal hardships" to enable them to improve their propery and make it safer.

I guess Commissioner Valery only support variances for a2k members and his friends. How soon they forget when they get in power.

I know you are not one of the few residents who stayed to the end of the meeting, so you must be a commissioner. For the record you are correct, there were no police presense at this meeting but there have been in the past. I do not recall any citizens behaving poorly or being disresptful. If you do not like the public to attend meetings and ask questions and perhaps even challenge your decisions than you should not be up there. My guess it that you are a FIRST time elected commissioner.........hmm that would be everyone except RB.

Who believes RB can stand a little criticism?

It takes 3 Commissioners to direct, by consensus, that a Deputy be present at Commission meetings. No one objected, so it must be a unanimous consensus.
