Free Lecture Series
At the last commission meeting, Kelly Cisarik conveyed much of the same troubling financial info posted recently on this blog. Commissioner Kennedy asked the new Finance Director for suggestions as to what capital projects could be cut from the budget. Commissioner Wollin, by contrast, used her time to politely “lecture” on Cisarik being incorrect in her statement that the commission had voted not to continue seeing monthly financials.
The few “regulars” in the audience knew exactly what documents Kelly was referring to. She was talking about the vote the commission took not to continue seeing monthly check registers--an equally irresponsible move.
Cisarik's point was that Wollin and three cohorts voted to see less financial information rather than more. Only former Mayor Bill Ockunzzi opposed this change of procedure but was summarily outvoted. This decision was even more perplexing having come on the heels of the now-infamous moving expense check cut in error to Al Grieshaber. That “small” slip-up continues to this very day to siphon off taxpayer dollars funding an ill-fated, grudge-based lawsuit against our former City Manager.
Wollin pointed out that getting monthly financial reports is a charter requirement and indicated that the commission expected to be getting them on a more regular basis with a new finance director now in place--more or less supporting Kelly Cisarik's concern that the commission may not currently be seeing accurate monthly financials.
Did Commissioner Wollin not realize to what reports Kelly Cisarik was referring when members of the audience did? Wouldn't it have been better to correct the record by acknowledging that it was the check registers the commission voted not to continue examining instead of ignoring that point? Or, was this just an opportunity to minimize the intelligence of Kelly’s information by pointing out a semantic error?
Could this be why 13,000 folks showed up to watch Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow, yet less than a dozen show up for commission meetings and even fewer have the courage to speak?
P.S. They expected 15,000 in Punxsutawney, PA for Groundhog Day…but the Steelers’ Super Bowl victory is believed to have hurt attendance.

Wollin needs to go, she may be the most useless commissioner in the history of public service. I would rather see Punxsutawney Phil on the dias than her. I encourage all readers of this blog to vote for anyone and everyone this March but her. I wonder if she demands her own bank statements? How can anyone support her and feel that she is good for IRB?
Does anyone know where I can get my "Anyone But Wollin" sign!! I heard they are ready and hot off the press.
Wollin will win.
She carries water for and has the support of: library, action 2000, city staff, the "click," cottage artists, leo. All of these people, except leo, feed at the city trough for funds or plan changes for special interests. Leo, helped her get into office and can't admit his mistakes.
These clowns, led by wollin and RB will end up balancing the budget by cutting the cops some more and raising taxes.
I want a sign! If she wins because she is the puppet for a few minority groups in town than we are in a sad state of affairs. I would like to know of ONE good idea she has had in the last two years that benefited the city and the citizens (tax payers), Anyone, Anyone, Anything. I would not put her in charge of my childs piggy bank!
It never ceases to amaze me that one Commission member who showed little knowledge of the budget or budgeting process as late as last September, takes to lecturing citizens about budget matters. Still not much of this new found expertise has been in evidence yet. And there is a chance we may never see it, with elections coming up in March.

Victor is right, not only does she lecture citizens who show up to meetings to voice concern, but she wants to squash accountability and transperancy. It is Wollin who was the chief instigator of spending our money to have the city attorney investigate the decorum and video taping issues. In fact she cares so little about what citizens have to say she often leaves for a bathroom break or other during citizen comments and questions. Lets hope the Harbor Group can see her lack of ability to formulate intelligent thought and process.
Now wait a minute. Terry Wollin has done a lot for this community. For one...She has brought a new fashion to the the city. Moo Moos for everyone.
